We fondly remember the story of his wife Gisela, who occasionally deliberately left the front door unlocked so that Oskar’s routine of checking every evening that all the windows, the patio door and the front door were fully locked was worthwhile.

Under the management of Oskar D. Biffar, Biffar developed from a small regional supplier to a renowned manufacturer of security front doors that are still in demand throughout Germany today. The reason for this was the tireless research and development of innovative security features and patents, such as the swing bolt, the safety catch and the automatic locking system – security solutions that still set the standard for the entire industry today.

In 1993, Oskar D. Biffar handed over the company and his vision to his son Albrecht Biffar. Albrecht Biffar pushed ahead with the internationalization of the brand and was able to open up the Taiwanese market at an early stage. This was the starting signal for the distribution of our products worldwide and thus the development of our visors.

In 2006, the company was restructured and Brigitte Biffar took over the management.
Brigitte Biffar succeeded in continuously developing the company and establishing Biffar as the leading door manufacturer in the Chinese luxury real estate market.

Between 2018 and 2024, Biffar won the German Design Award five times, including a cooperation with FA Porsche.

In 2019, the family acquired the window and façade manufacturer Löffelfenster in neighboring Herxheim to expand the product portfolio.

In 2022, two of the four Biffar children, the brothers Lukas and Ludwig Biffar, joined the company. Lukas has since developed from a specialist consultant at Biffar Studio Munich to Sales Manager of Biffar Studios in southern Germany.

As project manager, Ludwig leads the introduction of the new cross-company ERP system as part of the company’s digital transformation.

In 2024, the Biffar family confirms its security promise to its customers with the Biffar burglary protection guarantee for 25 years.

With this history, Biffar has stood for what is becoming increasingly rare today since 1960: Consistency in the face of change. For more than six decades, we have been combining traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology to create solutions that not only meet the highest security standards, but also impress as design objects. Our partnerships with renowned designers are proof that we are particularly interested in sustainable design.
